Main: Hi Hakimi. Can I speak to you for a moment?

Main: I’ve just finished grading your test.

Hakimi:

Main: You got an A+

Hakimi: Really?! That’s amazing! Thank you so much!

Main: You earned it; I’m so happy for you.

Hakimi: Thank you, Main.

Hakimi: Guess what!

Saleh: What?

Hakimi: I got an A+

Saleh: No way! I’m so happy for you!

Explanation:

In this video, Hakim was so happy about his grade. To describe his emotions, his friend used the intensifier SO, plus the the adjective HAPPY.

We use this rule to make the adjective stronger.

Other examples of so + adj.:

Adj. So Adj.
wet so wet
cold so cold
